The Daily Adventures of a Girl in a Crazy World

The Point Of It All

This entry is part 1 of 17 in the series First Austin Reno

This will be the ongoing chronology, and hopefully successful story of the renovation of the Austin, Texas house we are purchasing in May 2013.

The adventure part of this purchase is two fold. We bought this place “as is”, sight unseen from an investor that held it as a rental property for the past five years. This is a 4000+ square foot house built in 2002, with six bedrooms, three full baths, one powder room and four million fire ants.

If you’ve seen one suburban house around here, you’ve seen them all. People think these houses are unique if you’ve chosen the granite instead of the laminate, or put your can lights over the counter instead of the sink. Excuse me while I barf on my engineered wood floor.

The goal is to improve the property to something beyond the Jones’ standard jetted tub over the next two years while staying within our budget. All names have been changed to protect the guilty.

It’s a project to say the least, but I’m up for it. Let’s see if my pocketbook and back hold out.
