Next Great Mess

The Daily Adventures of a Girl in a Crazy World

And So It Begins

This entry is part 2 of 17 in the series First Austin Reno

Today we have the landscaper, the wiring guys, a contractor for the kitchen lights and the washing machine, and the candlestick maker just for kicks.

Here’s our yard this morning when the landscaper started. Aside from this look being a great start to a haunted house for Halloween, we can’t see the front of the house at all. I hate ripping out perfectly good trees, but the poor thing was starting to tear up our driveway.

The master bath is the best though. As if the gold tones and alabaster everything wasn’t enough, a previous owner installed a dining room chandelier above the jetted tub. The chandelier appears to be held up by common office staples. I don’t know if this was a DIY repair, cruel joke, or attempted murder.

We left the landscapers to work their magic in the yard and took down the light fixture in the master bath ourselves. Here’s what we found:

Really? See anything missing here? This means someone walked into the master bath one day and said, “You know, I have this chandelier, but I don’t I’ll actually want to run electricity to it.” So much for my attempted murder theory.

By the way, it’s 2:00 PM and there’s no sign of the contractor.
